Daddy-Daughter date

Tonight we did a Daddy-daughter date for all the Activity days aged girls in the ward. It could only be a hour, and we had dinner, games and dessert. Then the girls sang to their dads. It was great! I think all of the girls and their dads had a blast! I think the dads really enjoyed the song at the end too.
Our games were silly, we had a 3-legged race, marshmellow toss, and a "guess who's had is your daughter" game. I ran the marshmellow game and it was all giggles and smiles.
It was a little stressful making sure that everything was covered, but I think it looked good, and they had fun.
I was a little sad when I was released from Young Womens. I had been in there for over 3yrs. though and I knew I needed to let someone else have a turn. I was super intimidated by the age group I was given...I have the oldest girls and we team up for the weekday activity with the group just younger than us. My oldest is a boy and only 9....So I was worried that I wouldn't connect with them. But I have to say, that I am so grateful for all of those girls and their amazing spirits! They teach me so much. I'm so thankful for the other leaders that helped with all of this as well. It took all of us, but I think it turned our great!
So tonight, I'm thankful for my calling in the church. I know that I am teaching these girls and helping them to become awesome Young Women, but I think that goes both ways. They are teaching me how to be young! So thank you to all of those daddys that came tonight, and the mommys that belong to those girls...you are truly doing an amazing job!

  1. I bet you were a great YW leader! You have such an outgoing personality that was just perfect for the girls and I cannot believe that Scott is 9 years old. I think that was the age that Mitchell was when you guys first met him and now he's 19 years old. I loved reading about your boys TP a house and your Thanksgiving meals- you have such an awesome family!
